WATER WE DOING?
UCI's Global Engineering Brigades and Engineers Without Borders student organizations are teaming up to host the 2nd Annual Walk for Water 5k Walk-a-thon to promote awareness about the lack of access to clean drinking water in developing countries. Our goal is to raise funds for the engineering projects which aim to design, and implement sustainable drinking water systems in developing communities around the world, from Honduras all the way to Armenia
DATE : Saturday, April 6, 2019
WHEN: Registration @ 8AM, Walkathon begins @ 9AM
WHERE: Engineering Gateway, UCI

UCI’s Global Engineering Brigades chapter, seeks to promote the holistic development of under-resourced communities by providing engineered designs of water distribution systems. The students of this organization have designed six systems in Honduras and plan on designing a seventh this September 2019. One system is currently under construction and another is set to start this summer. With your help and participation in the 2nd Annual Walk for Water, you will push us over the finish line and get us to Honduras and more people will have the prospects of a new life with clean water.

Engineers Without Borders at UCI is a student-run campus organization committed to empowering developing communities through leadership, sustainable engineering, public health and education. Our team is currently working on several projects, including an international project which focuses on designing and implementing a water pipeline in Maventibao, Madagascar, as well as a new quarterly outreach program with a local high school in Orange County.

ENGINEER ARMENIA
The Engineer Armenia Program is an interdisciplinary, multi-purpose program. Our 2018-2019 project team will be visiting Armenia in July 2019. Using their knowledge and acquired skills in various disciplines, our team of volunteers will help rural Armenian villages move closer to having reliable access to clean water and better waste disposal systems, as well as inspire local youth to pursue careers in STEM via educational seminars and engineering camp activities.
